Protect the Adirondacks

In the first quarter of 2019, Protect the Adirondacks published a groundbreaking study “The Adirondack Park and Rural America.” This grant was to host a conference in the fall of 2019 for Adirondack Park residents and leaders that presents national experts on Rural America, a number of whom have served on a peer review committee for the report.  The conference has been rescheduled for October 2021. Their goal is to use this conference to follow-up on the public conversation catalyzed by the release of the report and build a series of working groups that will continue to meet after the conference to develop strategies to meet the long-term economic and population challenges of Adirondack communities.

The Cloudsplitter Foundation awarded Protect the full $10,000 requested in October 2019.

  • Grant Name:  The Adirondack Park and Rural America
  • Project Size: $112,500
  • Grant Amount:  $10,000
  • Strategic Value:  Protect the Adirondacks is an IRS-approved not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and stewardship of the 6-million-acre Adirondack Park.  This grant will take their valuable data gathering and reporting to the people who need it most.

Given the unknowns of the current funding environment, we wanted to be clear with our grant applicants that we may be less likely to fund capital projects, events, projects far outside the Adirondack park, and very large grant requests. If you feel something in those categories deserves our attention, please contact us to discuss further.
